Running

I am going to have to get used to this running thing. I just got back to work from the gym and I am whooped. I completed 2.02 miles with a 4.2 mph average. I completed 6 intervals running/walking. I got a horrible stitch in my side about 20 minutes in my workout. I am still working that out.

On to the next phase! I will stop whining for now.

  1. Side stitches are common... it's cause is a spasm/cramp of the diaphragm, usually brought on by taking short sharp breaths while running/cycling. The remedy is to focus on taking full breaths while exerting yourself. When you are on the 'rest' portion of your workout breathe in through the nose filling the lungs completely, hold for just a second, and then exhale fully through your mouth. Do this 2 or 3 times then breathe normally. Cycle that though a couple times to help get breathing and heart rate under control. Should help while climbing on the bike too.
